This quarter grew up in the 1980's when families of Chinese immigrants, mostly from Taiwan began to settle in the area.

It is visited for its many gastronomical and cultural offerings: restaurants, supermarkets selling oriental products, excellent fishmongers and greengrocers, manga and animé stores (selling Japanese comics and videos), decoration objects, etc. Among the religious institutions in the area is one of the few Buddhist temples in the city (Templo Chong Kuan, Montañeses 2175).
