Millionaire Corina Kavanagh entrust a skyscraper in 1934 to one of the most prestigious architecture studio from Buenos Aires at the beginning of the 20th Century. Miss Kavanagh sold two of her farms to finance the construction. The building was raised in 14 months.
It is a step by step tower made of reinforced concrete of 120 meters height, 32 floors, and 105 apartments. It is raised in front of the Plaza San Martín. When the building was opened it was the highest in Latin America and the biggest reinforced concrete structure. It has a rationalist style, characterized by the absence of lines, the lack of external ornaments, and the great prismatic volumes.
To assure the quality of the building she did not put limits to the budget. The Kavanagh, planned as a building of luxurious apartments, won numerous national and international prizes. Corina Kavanagh, who was 39 years old when she entrust the building- reserved for herself the apartment of the 14th floor, the only one that occupies a whole floor.
