NATURE Woods and lakes. Squares. An ecologic reservoir. Two coastal areas or Costaneras (North and South). Willow and alder woods. Streets and avenues flanked by jacarandas, ash trees, poplars, paraísos and tipas. Buenos Aires, unlike other big cities, has a lot of green spaces. You can see this just by walking around the city.
SQUARES There are many more than in other cities. They have trees and seats. Many also have playgrounds. Porteños usually read the newspaper, play truco and sunbathe there. In addition, squares are used to make protests.
COSTANERA NORTE It is located along Av. Rafael Obligado. It has recreational complexes that offer varied gastronomy and, among other sports, tennis, swimming, golf, basketball, soccer, windsurf and sailing.
COSTANERA SUR NATURAL PARK, ECOLOGIC RESERVOIR Ideal to take a stroll in the open air, practice aerobics, ride on a bicycle or join a group for a night walk under the full moon. The Reservoir is a spot for walking or riding a bike along its many paths leading to the river.
Address: Tristán Achával 1550, between Viamonte and Brasil streets.
3 DE FEBRERO PARK It is located in Palermo neighborhood and is the “green lung” of the city. This area was designed by the French landscaper Carlos Thays in 1890. Shady trees, sculptures, footpaths, gardens and a magnificent water body are part of its attractions. In addition, it has the Rosedal (rose garden), the Jardín de los Poetas (Poet’s Garden) and the Patio Andaluz (Andalusian Patio).
Every day, from the City Zoo gate facing Plaza Italia, the mateos – carriages drawn by horses – carry tourists and locals to visit the woods.
CITY ZOO It offers a great variety of animal species, an aquarium, a farm and a reproduction of the rainforest habitat.
Address: Avenidas Las Heras and Avenida Sarmiento.

BOTANIC GARDEN It has been inaugurated on September 7, 1898, and occupies more than six hectares. The garden comprises about 5500 shrub species, arboreal species and herbaceous species. Additionally, there are several gardens of style and five greenhouses. Due to the design, order and botanic contents, it can be widely differentiated from the rest of the Buenos Aires city gardens.

Address: Av. Santa Fe and Las Heras.
JAPANESE GARDEN Plants, flowers, bridges and cascades. The beauty of oriental gardens. For children, the attraction is in the bridges and the lake where colorful karpa fish – brought from Japan – may be seen.
Address: Av. Casares and Adolfo Berro.
HOLY LAND THEME PARK This is the only religious park in Latin America. It reproduces the city of Jerusalem as it was more than 2000 years ago.

Address: Av. Rafael Obligado 5790, Costanera Norte.
PUBLIC PLACES Some, like Parque Sarmiento, have an infrastructure to play soccer, basketball, volleyball, softball and tennis. In addition, they have swimming pools, parking lots and barbecues. In spring and summer, Buenos Aires offers very good shows in its parks and open spaces.
